Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Specializing in Therapy with Children and Families

I have been fortunate to have worked with children and families in a variety of settings for almost twenty years. My graduate degree in social work is from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. My practicum was conducted at the Menninger Memorial Hospital.

Throughout my professional career, I have been in human services and have gained experience and perspective by working at all levels of care in human service. Early on, I served at a camp for underprivileged kids, on an adolescent inpatient unit, and as a live-in house parent for troubled adolescents. I have been a case manager for severely and persistently mentally ill homeless adults. I also gained valuable experience as Director of Social Services for a Native American Tribe. Throughout this time I have had the opportunity to spend 8 years providing direct therapy for children, adolescents, and families.

Throughout my extensive history working with children, adolescents and their families, I have worked with issues such as:

Attachment Issues
Family Conflict
Developmental Disorders
Attention Deficit Disorder
Oppositional Defiant Disorder
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Bipolar Disorder

During my graduate work at Washburn University and studies at the Menninger Foundation I learned to address mental health issues using multiple theories such as Bowen Family Systems, Object Relations, Ego Psychology, and Psychoanalytical perspective. Since beginning full time therapy, I have gained additional experience using Attachment Theory and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Individual and Family counseling is available to help families improve communication and understand each other in healthier ways. (Services Offered)
